Associate Director of Professional Development & Recruiting 

For the DC Office of an International Law Firm 

Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as the strategic lead for the DC office, driving end-to-end talent acquisition, professional development programming, and attorney engagement initiatives. Supervise local team members and act as a trusted advisor to practice leaders.
  • Lead strategy and execution of campus recruiting for the DC office, including law school relationship management, on-campus interviews, callback logistics, candidate engagement and the DC summer program.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate DC associate programming aligned to firm competencies and practice priorities, including training, mentorship, and career development initiatives.
  • Partner with firm management and operating committees to shape and administer associate retention strategies and the performance management process.
  • Collaborate with the Inclusion & Engagement Committee to develop and execute firmwide and DC office initiatives that promote belonging, sponsorship, and equitable access to opportunities.
  • Partner with the Lateral Recruiting Manager on DC-specific searches, advising on sourcing strategies and candidate assessment. Lead the onboarding and integration plan for newly hired associates in DC, ensuring a seamless transition.

Qualifications include:

  • 7+ years of related experience, with demonstrated expertise in legal recruiting, associate development, and human resources practices within a professional services environment.
  • Proven ability to set strategy, manage complex initiatives, and deliver measurable outcomes across recruiting and professional development functions.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the firm, including practice leaders and senior management.
  • Strong interpersonal acumen and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Ability to lead and support detailed, multifaceted projects from design through implementation, with effective prioritization in dynamic, deadline-driven environments.
  • Strong professional and ethical standards; must observe confidentiality of personnel and Firm matters. 
Salary: $185k-$200k
